Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán says he is expecting the demands of Wednesday’s game against Birmingham City to be exactly the same as they were against Hull City.
The Terriers continue their 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign when they host Birmingham City at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday 20 October 2021.
Town go into the game off the back of a 2-0 win over Hull City on Saturday 16 October 2021.
Speaking to the press in his virtual press conference, Carlos says that the demands of the game were what he had prepared for.
“The game was exactly what I expected.
“I knew that Hull would be a very demanding game, they’re a competitive team.
“I knew it would be a game that demanded a lot of energy.
“The first half showed some very good moments in attack and a solid feeling in defence too.
“We found a good balance in the first half and at the start of the second half.
“After that, Hull started to take some control of the ball, but we reacted very well to the needs of the game.”
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s game against Birmingham, Town’s Head Coach commented on what he expects from the Bluenoses.
“Birmingham will be exactly the same type of game in terms of the demands that it is going to have.
“They’re a team that don’t need to attack a lot to create chances.
“They have a lot of combative strikers that can turn disadvantages for the striker into advantages for the team.
“When you’re going to face those types of teams, you have to be alert and create the right mentality to face these types of situations.”
The Spaniard also provided the latest team news.
“I expect to have all the same players that we had against Hull City.
“We took Matty Pearson off because he had a stomach virus, but yesterday he was feeling better and today he was fine.
“Álex Vallejo’s situation has taken half a step back.
“The reaction to his recovery has not been the right reaction, he continued having some pain and so the medical staff have changed his treatment and the type of work that he has been doing.
“His recovery will be delayed for a couple of weeks.
“We expect him to be back in around two weeks.”
