It was disappointing result to open up 2019 as Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner felt his players gave it their all despite seeing a positive start wiped out by a Christopher Schindler dismissal and two Burnley comeback strikes through Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes.

Steve Mounié's first of the season had took the roof off the John Smith's Stadium, but it was Schindler's sending off for two bookable offences that could arguably have swung the game in the Clarets' favour; something which they would take full advantage of in the end.

"They fought to the final whistle, and they tried everything. With one man less for 45 minutes, it's very difficult.

"I'm happy that Steve scored the striker goal that everyone was waiting for. Hopefully we can take this now and move forward. We have to accept this result. Everybody gave everything, and the commitment was there.

"This is what I expect, win lose or draw. We have to stick together and fight, and this is what the players have done; it's this commitment what you need, and we need to put this result to bed."

With a brief respite from league action coming up in the shape of an Emirates FA Cup tie at Bristol City, Town’s Head Coach didn't shy away from the fact that there is a lot of work to do in turning the fortunes in the Club's favour, whilst calling for continued togetherness in the face of adversity.

"It's eight defeats in a row, six by one goal. This is the truth, but we have our own schedule in our head and we know what we need to do. We look forward to the next game.

"As long as everybody gives everything, they deserve the support. If the support isn't there, we don't have a chance, and if it is, we have a chance. We believe."
