Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán has offered an insight into how the Club will continue the process of preparing for next season over the summer.

The Terriers completed the 2020/21 campaign at the weekend with a 2-2 draw at Reading, confirming a 20th place finish in the Sky Bet Championship in the Head Coach’s first season in charge.

Now, as well as having some time to rest and reflect over the season just gone, preparations will also immediately start for the new campaign at Town, with this being a key time of the year to improve and get better by doing just that according to the Head Coach.

“You need to have a mix and balance the break because it’s necessary especially after this tough and demanding season,” Carlos said.

“But at the same time, we know that maybe one of the most important moments of next year starts now because it is going to be a key process and period of time for next year.

“In football, you cannot find moments to stop because you know every year is connected and as soon as one season is done, you are going to be starting the next.

“I know here I have Leigh Bromby here as a Sporting Director and all the people working for him, it is going to be an important moment for them to analyse the team and see next year’s squad.

“We now need time with our families because all of us need this but at the same time we are going to keep the connection because the process here is not interrupted, the league is interrupted, but not the process to start to create the future for Huddersfield Town.”

One of the things that process will involve is working on how next season’s squad will look, which includes assessing the situation of every single player already at the Club, as well as doing the due diligence on those that could be added to improve the team in the market.

“I think we are going to analyse with a lot of detail every person that we have and every player that we have,” the Head Coach explained.

“We need to look at the performances of these players because this is very important, at the same time the contract situation.

“We are going to be watching the possibility of the market too. So, we are going to make a mix of everything, and so I cannot say where our main (positional) target will be at the moment.

“But our main target as a club is going to be to make the squad as strong as we can do.”

Learning from this season’s experience will also be important for both himself and everyone at the Club going into next season, says Carlos.

He is keen to use the time since his arrival as fuel for development across all areas in his second year in the role.

“In my mind, I didn’t finish the ideas of the way I want to play and I didn’t finish the idea of the competitiveness I want to create here in Huddersfield Town.

“It’s very important to use the future, to use our experience, and it’s very important to continue looking to the future trying to build the best future we can build.”
