Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán says he is expecting a challenge when West Bromwich Albion visit the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 20 November 2021.

The Terriers host West Brom in their first game back in Sky Bet Championship action following the international break.

When speaking to the press in his virtual press conference, Carlos reflected on Town’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City just before the break.

“It was a difficult defeat to accept.

“When you lose a game like that, it’s because you didn’t do enough well.

“We could have created a different result, we had the chances to, but we didn’t do it.

“We need to use that performance to improve and create the right mentality to be the most competitive team that we can be.

“We could have managed some of the situations against Cardiff City better.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Town’s Head Coach discussed what he expects from the Baggies.

“They’re a team that are competing very well in the league and are in a good position.

“It is going to be a challenge for us.

“They’re a team with a specialist style of game.

“We need to show that we are able to solve situations and play against any form of opponent and give the answer that we want to give.”

The Spaniard also provided an in-depth injury update.

“Jonathan Hogg will be out of the team for around six weeks.

“He has a problem in his knee.

“He turned it against Cardiff City when he was trying to make a switch of play.

“It was an accident.

“He won’t be with the team for the next week.

“Duane Holmes has a muscle injury in his leg.

“He will be out for Saturday’s game and there’s some doubt around our midweek game.

“From the doctor’s point of view, he will be ready for next weekend’s game.

“Jordan Rhodes is progressing really well.

“This week he has been doing some drills with the team.

“He can’t complete any training yet because he isn’t allowed to be in any game situations, but he is doing some of the drills and exercises that the team do.

“From next week we will start to introduce him to game situations and get him to football level.

“We know that it’s a long-term injury, but he’s doing well.

“Ryan Schofield will be training with the team today.

“He played with the B Team on Wednesday in the Premier League Cup.

“At the end he was one of the subs because he was feeling something in his back, but that was normal because he was taken to the floor.

“It was more for precaution than anything else. He’s been looked at by the doctors and he looks fine.

“Aaron Rowe still has the same issue.

“He continues working with the medical staff on the pitch.

“He can come back as soon as he doesn’t have pain, but we don’t know when that will be.

“Pipa is continuing his process of adaptation.

“He has started to do some technical work, but until we introduce him to high intensity training, we won’t know if he is progressing or not.

“We need to give him some more time to let his body adapt.

“Álex Vallejo has had a delay with his injury.

“In his latest scan, there was another problem with his knee.”
