A Town Academy side is back in pre-season action on Friday evening (23 July), making the short journey south to take on Worksop Town.

With several B Team players down in Colchester with the First Team, and others missing through injury, coach Jon Worthington is expected to a lead a team of varied ages into the game against the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division side.

Craig Parry’s team is sure to offer the Young Terriers a very stern test at this stage of pre-season, and Town fans have the opportunity to attend the 7.30pm kick-off in person at their Windsor Foodservice Stadium!

The opposition

Parry’s side has enjoyed big wins in their previous two friendlies ahead of Friday’s clash, with a 4-0 win over Emley quickly followed up with a 5-2 home victory over Garforth Town.

Before that, they recorded further victories over Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Parkgate on the road.

After their latest win, Assistant Manager Luke Jeffs previewed their game against the Young Terriers on their official club website.

“I think we’re probably ready for the next step up in terms of a test.

“They’re going to be a good side; they’re going to be at a professional level whatever age group we come up against.

“They will move the ball well; we will have to be at it.

“We will be confident going into the game and we won’t change from the way we play.

“We will play attacking football and look to score as many goals as we can. Hopefully, we can get another win and entertain the people that come to watch.”

There is a link between the two clubs on the playing side; Worksop’s summer recruit Ify Ofoegbu once played in the Town Academy.
