Huddersfield Town’s B Team Coach Jon Worthington was pleased with the performance of his players in their 3-0 victory over Bradford City at Canalside on Wednesday afternoon.
A goal in his second game back following a long-term injury from Tommy Elphick, alongside an own-goal and a strike from Matty Daly handed Town a comfortable victory over their West Yorkshire neighbours.
Daly’s first-half effort was particularly pleasing for Worthy after the Young Terriers midfielder finished off a fine team move involving Joel Pereira, Micah Obiero, Sam Peplow and Sorba Thomas.
“I thought the game served the purpose it intended. It allowed a number of players to get important minutes for different reasons and that was the main idea for the game today,” he said.
“I think at times we showed snippets of real quality. The second goal was one of those moments because it was an excellent move from back to front.”
Another aspect of the result that satisfied Worthy was the fact his side were able to keep a clean sheet.
Despite finishing the game with a completely different back five to what they started with, the Young Terriers were able to keep chances at a premium for their opponents to earn a second shutout in four matches.
“It is really pleasing because it is good for the goalkeepers and the back-four’s confidence despite the numerous personnel changes throughout the game.
“Players adapted well to their different positions they were put in and so from that perspective we are happy.”
“Brahima Diarra was at right-back in the first half, but is an excellent player and could probably play in any position.
“Tommy’s experience and communication is really good for the lads and using him really benefits us.
