With our Head Coach Carlos Corberan unable to be at Ewood Park to due COVID-19, his Assistant Coach Danny Schofield stepped in to share his thoughts post-match.

Reflecting on the match, the Assistant Coach believed it was a good point earned away from home against one of the form sides in the division.

“I think it was a deserved point overall.

“When a team has been in a good run of form and had a period of success, they can be clear in the way they play.

“We knew they had a real danger in counter attacks so that’s something we suffered with at times, but we defended well.

“They’ve got real good attacking players, and it was a focal point of our defensive strategy today.

“We always look at the individual players of the opponents, and how they match up with us, both individually and collectively.

“We see where their threats are and try to reduce what threat they can pose.”

Summing up how his own side performed, Schofield was keen to stress that Town are still improving, and will use the game to get better going forward.

“We’d have liked to make more of our own chances, but when you do create one or two chances, you always look at those moments to see how you can have even more.

“We’re always reflecting on how we can improve and get better. As coaches, how we can help the players, so it’ll be something we’ll be looking at.”

Asked about Town’s excellent form over the congested festive period, Danny was full of praise for the squad, their work ethic and their collective attitude.

“Fantastic, particularly over the Christmas period where the games are really close. It’s important you put a run together, so having won three on the bounce and then drew today, we’d definitely take that!

“The group of players, the attitude, effort and application they have every single day is very positive around the training ground. Anything is possible in football but I won’t make predictions. We’re moving along nicely, to be around the play-offs, we’re pretty happy with that.

“We’ll continue to work, we’ll continue to try and improve and we’ll see what happens at the start of May.”
