Huddersfield Town Caretaker Head Coach Mark Hudson was frustrated after his side “blew up” after 70 minutes.
The Terriers put in an excellent performance for the first hour of the game at the John Smith’s Stadium, however, two goals in the final 20 minutes condemned Town to defeat.
When speaking to #HTTV, Hudson explained how frustrated his was with how his side finished the game.
“The way I asked them to play, they did it for 70 minutes. Overall feeling is we need to be more ruthless, we need to score when we were on top because we were early, but out of 11 chances we had, we had two on target; that’s not enough. I’m disappointed and frustrated.
“70 minutes we blew up, I can’t defend what’s gone on before because they can’t continue for 96 minutes and that’s what we expect from this Football Club.
“We need to get more shots on target, take shots when it opens up, take less touches and hit the target to try and score.
“We are nowhere near where we should be as a club so it’s frustrating. You can’t play a game for 70 minutes, it’s not 70 minutes, it’s 96 or 97. We are nowhere near ready and capable to do that yet.”
One positive was the performance of young left-back Jaden Brown, who made his Sky Bet Championship debut this afternoon.
Hudson was pleased with his performance and believes he can keep progressing.
“For Jaden personally, he lasted 96, he did well. There’s more to come from him, which is great.
“He will be an asset for this football club. I’m pleased he came on the pitch and did his job as well as he can.”
Town’s Caretaker Head Coach now has a full training week with his squad before they go to Luton Town on Saturday.
He detailed how hard they will work ahead of that game.
“We will demand more and push them as hard as we can. We have no game in the week next week, so we are ready to work and go again.
“We can work specifically on how we are going to play. We’ve had three and a half days in between two games and we’ve pushed them harder than they’ve pushed them already, which is why they’ve blown up.
“It’s not the players, it’s what’s gone on. We are where we are. We work harder and we go on.”
