Huddersfield Town Caretaker Head Coach Mark Hudson has urged his players to show a clinical edge against Luton Town on Saturday.
The Terriers are looking for their first win of the campaign but have put in two good performances in their last league games.
When speaking to the press, Hudson explained how creating a more positive mindset in the squad will help them pick up more points.
“We need to change our mentality to a winning mentality; that’s what this football club deserves.
“We need to keep focused on that and try to change it. We have to turn the Reading performance into winning games.
“The players played for 65 minutes our way against Reading and did it well. We need to change that mentality to be more ruthless.
“We need to take our chances, create more chances and we need to get that winning mentality back. There’s stuff to be worked on.
“We have to learn how to win and be really ruthless.”
That change in mentality has to be matched by the attitude and application on the pitch, something that Hudson expects from his players.
“We need to really stick together and put our bodies on the line. If it’s going to hurt, it needs to hurt.
“You need to go out, the 14 we use, and put your bodies on the line for each other and for the Club, you have to do that.”
In the Club’s last outing, Hudson admitted that his players burnt out after 70 minutes.
He detailed how a full week’s training has helped with that, whilst discussing what he expects from Luton on Saturday.
“If you don’t train the way you play, then you can’t do it on a Saturday. We’ve looked at it, put in as much as we can this week and tried to create a freshness in the later stages of this week.
“If we train with intensity then it’s easier to go into the game and sustain it.
“Luton are in a good way ate moment and aren’t to be taken lightly.
“It’s a tough place to go, we already know that, and the group should know that. It’s another game we go into to try and create that winning mentality by winning the game.
“Every game’s a challenge; that’s football. Some teams are on good ways and some aren’t, but it’s about us going into the game and what we can do.
“We know that we have to put our bodies on the line and be willing to come from the game with nothing left, even if that takes every bit of energy we’ve got, we have to do that.”
