Huddersfield Town caretaker Head Coach Mark Hudson says the leaders in his squad wasn’t strong enough on an afternoon where his side fell to defeat at Luton Town.
Karlan Grant opened the scoring for Town before a penalty from James Collins and a strike from Andrew Shinnie wrapped up a 2-1 win for the hosts.
Hudson discussed the refereeing decisions in the game and felt his side needed to shoulder the blame and play to the whistle, rather than attributing the blame on the referee.
”They get a head injury in the first-half, he blows and stops play. We get a head injury – an arm to his face - and he doesn’t stop, then it’s down to us and we shouldn’t stop.
“Unless the whistle goes, you do not stop. We then get out jumped, out fought and that’s what we shouldn’t be doing if we want to win games.
Town anticipated a high press from the hosts as Hudson was left feeling like his side rushed certain situations which made it more difficult to execute the plan.
“I think in the first 20 minutes we had an idea of how to build up and how to play over. Some of us were set and some of us weren’t; we rushed it.
“That’s where we are at the minute, when we did do it right it looked better, but we rushed too many occasions.”
The final discussions from Town’s Caretaker Head Coach were around leaders in the team explaining that everyone has the responsibility to step and be a leader in order to turn results.
“That’s what leaders are on the pitch for. When you don’t act like one, behave like one and don’t have enough on the pitch, we won’t win games.
“If you don’t be leaders - and everyone’s a leader on that pitch - then it’s not enough; they were. We need to find a way of doing it.
