Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley admits his side have to look at themselves and move forward following a 3-0 defeat to Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship.
Goals from Josh Murphy, Will Vaulks and Callum Paterson were enough for the Bluebirds to condemn Town to defeat on a chilly evening in West Yorkshire.
“We have to look at ourselves, ultimately they scored with their first two chances,” Danny said.
“We have to go away; we have to be hard on ourselves and not make excuses. We have to try and strip it back, look for answers and move forward.”
Despite having control over the majority of the opening exchanges, Town couldn’t find their finishing touch and were made to pay at the other end, following some clinical finishing from the visitors.
“We were soft in our defensive box and powder puff in the attacking box and it doesn’t matter what pretty patterns you have between both areas, if you’re not good in both boxes it’s very difficult to win games.
“We have to feel the pain of that tonight. They scored with their first two touches in our box and that’s tough to take. It’s a tough result for us to take.”
Danny insists the opposition were a difficult team to face but was left frustrated at his own side’s threat going forward in the game.
“They were a well-organised team. A powerful team who carried real threat with their physicality and we weren’t able to cope with it. When you don’t, you pay the price.”
“In our attacking play, we got the ball into the final third so many times, but our final action and the quality of runs wasn’t good enough tonight.
“We didn’t have the movement ahead of the ball tonight and that was frustrating. We’re disappointed because we were at home and you don’t expect to get bullied at home.”
