New Head Coach Carlos Corberán is looking forward to creating an identity with his Huddersfield Town side.

Carlos was appointed Town’s new Head Coach on Thursday having joined the Terriers from Leeds United where he was Assistant Coach to Marcelo Bielsa.

Ahead of his first role as a Head Coach at senior level in English football, he sat down with #HTTV to discuss what the supporters can expect from his Huddersfield Town team.

“I think the fans, what they want is to recognise with the team. I think what we want is to give the best to all the fans, we want to create one identity where we want to try to dominate the games.

“Of course, in attack, we want to create chances and at the same time, in defence, we want to try to give no chances to our opponent.

“The ideas of how we want to do this is like, we want to try and take the control, to dominate, to be brave, and to try and take the initiative in the game.

“We are not going to speculate about what we can do. I think when you have an idea, you need to go with the idea.”

Having spent the last two years in West Yorkshire with the Whites, Town’s new Head Coach knows the Sky Bet Championship well having been part of a coaching team that oversaw third and first place finishes respectively at Elland Road in the last two seasons.

He is hoping to use his experience of the division to help mould his style of play with the Terriers.

“We have a high respect for this competition, I know the Championship very well. I know how tough this competition is and I know how many details you need to control in this competition to have success.

“Then the idea is to create a style that will allow us to feel more comfortable in the game, that will allow us to create the best ways to try to find the result that we want.

“In summary, we have to be brave and have the character to try and go for the games.”

With Town’s 2019/20 season coming to a close earlier this week, the players will have some time off before returning to PPG Canalside to work with Carlos for the first time in preparing for the start of the new campaign.

During his first interview with the Club, Town’s new Head Coach expressed the importance of that work on the training ground once the squad return in order for the Terriers to be successful on a match day when the season gets underway.

“We want to use the training to do the team, so we need to start by doing what we are doing in training so it can help the team to face the situation that we are going to face in the game.

“Of course, as coaches, the training is one of the most important parts to convince the players and to make them ready to face all the situations that they are going to see in the games.

“What we want to give, during training, are these types of situations to create one collective identity that allows us to feel the full work of this way.”
