Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner was highly frustrated as his men had the better of the play but fell to a second-half Salomón Rondón strike on miserable afternoon in HD1.
The Terriers dominated the ball throughout, although the visiting Tynesiders kept a solid organisation to which Wagner rued not creating further clear-cut chances to really test that defensive unit.
Wagner believed his side completed some aspects of the game to a positive standard, with yet again the only thing lacking that clinical sharpness in-front of goal.
With a busy schedule only just beginning to unfold, the Head Coach was keen to maintain the belief and faith within the group ahead of a clash with Southampton in a week's time.
Despite not coming out on the right side of the score-line, there was reserved praise for the performances of Philip Billing and Juninho Bacuna on his first Premier League Town start.
Following proceedings at the John Smith's Stadium, David Wagner commented:
"We did a lot of things right today, but unfortunately we conceded on the counter and didn't create the clear-cut opportunities. We are frustrated and disappointed, but we still believe.
"We played some good football today. The players tried and were on the front foot, but couldn't create the chances, and that was the difference.
"It is not easy. We have played 17 Premier League games and don't have enough points, but we have many games left to go."
"Philip Billing was very good today. He was the man who wanted to dominate the midfield. He took another step forward today and wanted to penetrate. Juninho (Bacuna) also did well."
