Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner revealed the latest team news ahead of the Club’s Emirates FA Cup game against Bristol City.

In his press conference, Wagner explained that Ben Hamer will start in goal and further changes could take place.

“It’s not about resting players, it’s about using fresh players. This is what we’ve done in this busy period and what we will do tomorrow as well. We will change and rotate, like we’ve done in the last games.

“One player who will play tomorrow for sure is Ben Hamer in goal. This is a swap we will do 100% if he’s healthy after training and tomorrow. Everyone else, we will see how they are tomorrow.”

This will be Ben Hamer’s first start since the 0-0 draw with Cardiff City in August – third of the 2018/19 season.

“He absolutely deserves to start a game. I’ve done this more often in the past to give the goalkeeper who hasn’t played so much in the Premier League, the starting shirt in the cup competitions.

“He’s a fantastic lad, a very good goalkeeper and I’m happy that he can play tomorrow against Bristol City – in the area he’s from.”

Games have come thick and fast and Town’s Head Coach revealed the latest team news ahead of the Emirates FA Cup game.

Apart from Christopher Schindler, who is ruled out for suspension, David Wagner has the same squad available to him as he did for the Burnley game.

However, in the press conference, he provided a latest fitness update on the Club’s four longer-term injuries.

“Aaron Mooy is in-between the time frame we expected. Yesterday (Thursday 3 January 2019) was the first time he was on the grass, but without the ball doing some linear direction runs; that’s where he is at the minute. He needs some further days.

“Hamid is as well on the grass without the ball, improving his fitness. If everything goes to plan and he will have another X-Ray after the Cardiff game, hopefully he can join the training group after the Cardiff game.

“Tommy Smith can maybe join the group before the Cardiff game or in the week after the Cardiff game. Danny Williams is in his rehab, he will take until March until he’s back.”
