Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley was happy with the point his side took away from Hillsborough but knows there’s still a lot of work ahead.
The Terriers drew 0-0 with Sheffield Wednesday, the Club’s third clean sheet in four games. However, his side has now gone four games without finding the back of the net.
When speaking after the game, he reviewed his side’s performance explaining that the only thing missing was a goal.
“It was a competitive game; Sheffield Wednesday are a very good team. I thought we competed very well, showed a lot of will and desire.
“Against the ball we were excellent, we didn’t really give them any chances, maybe just a few from distance but at no time did they open us up.
“We created three really good chances; Steve Mounié from a corner, Karlan after a really good counter movement when we got behind their backline and then Fraizer’s one at the end.
“I think if we take one of those when you say it was the perfect away performance, but we didn’t.
“We’ve dried up a bit in front of goal, we are a bit tight in the final action and we have to resolve that going into the final two games.”
Goals have been hard to come by for the Terriers since the season restart and Town’s Manager detailed why he believes that’s occurred.
“It’s a pressurised moment and the boy are desperately keen to do well for the Club. Sometimes you can be over desperate, and you have to relax and let it flow.
“I don’t know where it’s come from, I didn’t envisage us being short of goals. Since we’ve been in, we’ve never really had that issue and we’ve always looked like we could score goals.
“You could definitely criticise us for letting in soft goals, but not for not scoring goals. All of a sudden, we’ve just tightened up a bit.
“At this moment, technical, tactical and physical are important, but the biggest wins and gains are psychological; there’s no doubt about that.”
The Terriers, however, did defend well against Wednesday, but also had to rely on a fantastic save from goalkeeper Jonas Lössl. Cowley reserved special praise for his ‘keeper.
“We’ve defended really well tonight. We know the only chances they’ve had is from individual brilliance from outside the box. We know we did a good job defensively.
“When called upon Jonas did what Jonas does; he’s been brilliantly since he came in.
“It’s not at that area of the pitch that we’ve found difficult, especially if you look at our clean sheets since the restart.”
