Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley praised his side’s character and togetherness in the win over West Bromwich Albion.
The Terriers showed tremendous fighting spirit to beat promotion chasing Albion and all but secure Sky Bet Championship football for another season.
When speaking after the win, Town’s Manager praised his side’s fight.
“It was an important evening and a really committed performance again.
“It was probably an easier game for us than a Luton game last Friday for many different reasons. West Brom are a top team but we knew they’d come at us.
“We were very organised against the ball. We freshened it up at the top end of the pitch, which we thought we needed to do, Karlan and Emile put so much energy into games recently.
“We felt this would be game that would get tired, so being able to bring them and Steve Mounie on after 60 minutes, gave us real impetus.
“We defended really well and when you do that you give yourself attacking moments and we were good enough to take those this evening.”
Town now have 51 points and are 17th in the Sky Bet Championship table. Despite playing a game more than everyone else in the league, they are six points ahead of the relegation spots with one game left.
“Tonight, it was about the players. They were heavily criticised, we all were last Friday, and we responded this week.
“There’s a real togetherness. Tell me they don’t care; you see that dressing room now, a lot of emotion, tears, because it’s been really hard.
“We’ve had to really fight for this. We had some really tough moments and disappointing times, but we’ve come through them.
“We haven’t been able to find a level of consistency, but when we let ourselves down, we’ve responded. You have to show real character to do that.”
