Huddersfield Town B Team defender Brodie Spencer is proud of what he’s achieved so far during the 2021/22 season.
Sitting down with HTTV, Spencer was quick to comment on what he’s made of the current campaign.
“I’ve found this season very good so far, both on a personal note and as a team.
“I think as a team we’ve done amazingly so far, got some good performances and some great results against some big oppositions.
“I think it’s gone very well so far, and the thing is just to keep continuing and working hard and keep doing what we’re doing.”
The 2021/22 season has seen the 17-year-old skip the Under-19s age group and move straight into the B Team. He admits that although it’s a big step up, he’s relishing it.
“I’m obviously finding it tough.
“It’s a big step up from last season, but now I’m adapting to it I’m learning a lot.
“I’m getting some regular performances in and I’m learning from some of the best players in the Academy, so I think it’s been very good so far.
“It’s been good for my development to be in and around the bigger, older, more experienced lads because it pushes me even more and helps me improve.”
This season has also seen the defender called up to play for Northern Ireland’s Under-19s.
“I would say that playing with Northern Ireland in the Euros is one of the biggest achievements of my life so far.
“I think that Northern Ireland’s an amazing country for development.
“Recently, one of my best friends since I was a kid made his debut overnight for the First Team and it gives me confidence as well to see how close I am to the First Team.
“The amount of youngsters making debuts obviously gives me and the other lads in Northern Ireland a lot of confidence.”
The B Team are back in action on Wednesday 17 November 2021, when they travel to face Newcastle United in the Premier League Cup. Spencer ran us through what he expects from the game.
“Playing Newcastle last year in the FA Youth Cup I know that they’re a very good team.
“They’re very hard to break down and very good on the counterattack, so I’m expecting the same.”
