Blackburn Rovers come into the game off the back of a 5-1 win over Cardiff City on Saturday 25 September 2021.
THE OPPOSITION
Blackburn Rovers finished last season occupying the 15th spot of the Sky Bet Championship with 57 points.
Managed by Tony Mowbray, Rovers have only lost one game this season, a narrow 2-1 defeat to West Brom.
They currently sit sixth with 16 points, just one place above Town.
Blackburn will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six when they arrive at the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday.
ONES TO WATCH
Ben Brereton Díaz
Brereton initially joined Blackburn Rovers on loan from Nottingham Forest ahead of the 2018/19 season. In January 2019 the move was made permanent. After a frustrating first couple of seasons at Ewood Park, last season saw the striker push on and make 40 appearances, securing seven goals and four assists in the process. So far this season, the 22-year-old has started all nine games and matched last season’s total of seven goals, including a hattrick against Cardiff City last Saturday.
Sam Gallagher
The 26-year-old initially joined Rovers on loan from Southampton ahead of the 2016/17 season. In July 2019, he put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with Blackburn. The striker made 39 appearances last season, netting eight goals three assists. This season has seen Gallagher make seven appearances so far, with three goals and an assist already on his tally, one of which game in Blackburn’s 5-1 over Cardiff City last Saturday.
Daniel Ayala
The defender signed for Blackburn Rovers in September 2020, having been released from Middlesbrough. The 30-year-old’s first season with Rovers didn’t go the way he’d planned, as he spent the majority of it on the sidelines due to injuries. Wanting to push on in the current campaign, Ayala has started all nine games so far, and netted two goals. He scored his first goal for Blackburn in their 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest in August 2021.
TEAM NEWS
Long-term absentees Jordan Rhodes, Pipa and Aaron Rowe will all be unavailable on Tuesday.
Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán will provide a further update on the fitness of his squad during his virtual press conference on Monday 27 September 2021.
KIT
Town will be in their famous blue and white stripes for Tuesday evening’s game.
