B Team Coach Jon Worthington says he is happy with the way his Young Terriers have started the Premier League Cup competition after Monday night’s 3-1 win against Birmingham City.

Town are now three points clear at the top of their group table after an impressive start to the competition, with the top two sides progressing to the knockout stages.

“We’ve started the competition well and today was another game where the lads look really strong out of possession.

“We created some really good opportunities in the game today.”

The game shows the strength that the team have when playing at home after the previous match at the John Smith’s Stadium against Watford also resulted in a big score line.

“I’ve got a lot of belief in these players and they have a lot of belief in themselves.

“When you play at the stadium in a night match in a cup competition, there is always that added bit of pressure and fortunately there is a group of good characters that show what they can do.”

He continued:

“It is pleasing as a coach because there are a lot of talented individuals but collectively they come together and work extremely hard on the training pitch.

“There are a lot of good relationships on the pitch.”

The B Team Coach went on to speak about Danny Grant’s first competitive game at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“He is an undoubted talent and some of the glimpses we have seen of him he has shown real quality.

“He will make a big impact in the future games.”
