Centre back joins League 1 side for the season
- Rarmani Edmonds-Green joins Rotherham United on loan
- Centre back to gain further senior experience in League 1
- Comments from Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby
Rarmani Edmonds-Green has today joined Sky Bet League 1 side Rotherham United on loan for the 2021/22 season.
As per the terms of the agreement, Town will have the ability to recall the centre back in January 2022.
The 22-year-old has gained senior experience through three previous loans, but this time in League 1 is a step up in that regard. After initial time with Brighouse Town and Bromley, Rarmani helped Swindon Town secure the Sky Bet League 2 Championship at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
He subsequently made 24 appearances in last season’s Sky Bet Championship campaign for Town, and now the target is to play a full season in League 1 for the Millers after their relegation from the second-tier last season.
Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby explained:
“It’s vital that we balance the development of individual players with our own squad needs, and the signing of Tom Lees late last week has made today’s move possible.
“Rarmani is a player we like and have very high hopes for at the Club, and a full season of football at League 1 level is an important next step in his development.
“Rotherham United is a perfect opportunity for him. They’re a good club and have very real aspirations of returning to the Championship, so the pressure will be on Rarmani to perform. We’ll all be watching him closely as the season progresses.”
