B Team midfielder Myles Bright praised the Young Terriers’ clinical finishing as they beat Preston North End Under-19s 5-0 in the Central League on Wednesday afternoon.
Town followed up Friday’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Watford, as goals from Ben Jackson, Donay O’Brien-Brady, Ben Midgley, Rolando Aarons, and Kian Harratt saw the Young Terriers put five past the Lilywhites at Canalside.
And Bright explained how the side’s work in training has helped them score 11 goals in two games.
“It was a big game coming up after Friday’s win over Watford; the team just wanted to continue with the progression and that is what we have done today.
“I feel like as a team, we just wanted to kick on from Friday and keep going with this level of performance.
“Towards the start of the season we weren’t scoring as many – we were getting results but not scoring as much as we’d like – but now we have practised our finishing at training, working in the final third, and on the different types of finishing which is paying off in games with the 5-0 win today and the 6-0 win Friday.
“It is pleasing because, as a team, we get to celebrate and experience the winning feeling, and we can see that the training that we are doing is helping us.
“We’re happy as a side with the results that we have had, winning in big games like today and the Premier League Cup, so we will see how far we can go in these games.”
Bright sustained a broken nose back in early September, meaning that the midfielder has been playing with a protective mask.
The 18-year-old explained how he wants to come back and help the side continue their rich vein of form in front of goal.
“I am very happy to get the full 90 minutes. Hopefully, I can pick up more minutes and maybe start a Premier League Cup game and have an effect.
“It was tough picking up the injury just before the Birmingham [City] game, but everything happens for a reason I guess, so I just want to pick up where I left off and improve more and more and help the team as much as I can – I want to help the team carry on scoring and winning.
“When I first picked up the mask, I thought it might be a bit hard to play in it, but it hasn’t really been that bad – obviously it is on my face, and I can feel it – and it doesn’t really affect me, and I don’t mind it.”
