Conceding once in each half, Town fell 0-2 at home to a determined Nottingham Forest team.
Despite having the majority of possession, Huddersfield could not break down Forest, who defended deep in numbers and protected their goal well.
After an impressive burst forward down the right flank by Brennan Johnson, his cross was met by Lewis Grabban who headed Forest ahead from close range.
Town had several good chances in the first half as they grew into the game, but could not get level despite making inroads in to the box on several occasions.
The second half started with another Forest goal, this one far more fortuitous than the first. After a smart save from Lee Nicholls to deny a Grabban strike from distance, the follow up from Joe Lolley at an awkward angle hit both Ollie Turton and Nicholls on its way in.
Huddersfield then laid siege on Forest’s goal for the remainder of the half. Even having changed shape and introduced both Duane Holmes and Mipo Odubeko, nothing that Town threw at Forest stuck, and time quickly ran out for the home side to get back in to the game.
