Youngster spoke ahead of U17s game against Grimsby Town
- David Adewoju enjoying his progression with Town’s Academy
- Young Terrier also features for Under-19s
- Under-17s are back in action on Saturday 27 March 2021
Huddersfield Town Under-17s defender David Adewoju is pleased with his development so far in his first season at the Club.
The youngster was part of the Club’s summer 2020 intake, joining from QPR to link up with the Academy’s Under-17 season.
He spoke to htafc.com about his first season as a First Terrier.
“My first season’s been good.
“I’ve blended in nicely, made a lot of friends here and as I’ve been playing more games I’ve been getting better.
“I’m definitely faster and stronger than when I joined.
“My playing has also got a lot better.”
Adewoju’s progression has seen him feature for Jon Worthington’s Under-19s side alongside some of his fellow Under-17 teammates; something he admits has further helped his development.
“The Under-19s are bigger and stronger than the Under-17s, so I have to move the ball a lot faster, which makes me quicker.
“You pick up little habits that the older players do, like passing details that you wouldn’t have known before that help move the ball faster around the pitch and help us score. It means when I go back to the Under-17s I’m a lot sharper.
“It makes it easier going into that older age group with some of my current teammates because you both go on together and learn together, whereas if you go up by yourself you can’t really talk to anyone because you don’t really know them yet.”
The 17-year-old also reviewed what he’d like to achieve in the remainder of the current season.
“I want to carry on playing well and being selected for as many games as possible, including both Under-17s and Under-19s games.”
David and his Under-17 teammates are back in action on Saturday 27 March 2021 when they travel to face Grimsby Town.
