ACADEMY’S ADEWOJU JOINS OSSETT UTD ON WORK EXPERIENCE

Academy defender David Adewoju is set to gain his first experience of senior football through a work experience spell at Ossett United.

17-year-old Adewoju is a tall, left-footed centre back who joined the Club in the summer of 2020, having previously been on the books at QPR.

Now a member of Town’s Under-19 squad, this will be a first spell away for David. Work experience spells work like loans for Academy scholars, but they are a little more flexible in terms of their end dates.

Adewoju will join Academy goalkeeper Max Dearnley, who is already on loan at Ossett United and has played every game as they have enjoyed a productive start to the new Pitching In Northern Premier League First Division East season.

Wayne Benn’s side head into Friday night’s game at Frickley Athletic with 13 points from their first six league games, which puts them second in the division behind Liversedge.

Giving scholars and young Academy players early exposure to senior football, when it is right for their development, is an important part of our youth development strategy, and David joins fellow players Ernaldo Krasniqi (Falkirk), Michael Roxburgh (Billingham Town) and Josh Okpolokpo (Pontefract Collieries) as the current youngsters away from the Club.

We've worked with Ossett United before this season too, with the likes of goalkeeper Jacob Chapman - currently on loan at Gateshead - getting his first senior experience there.
