Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán has spoken to the press ahead of Town’s first Sky Bet Championship game of 2022, as we make the short trip across the Pennines to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Sunday 2 January at 2pm.

With less than 72 hours between the match away at Nottingham Forest ending and kick-off on Sunday at Ewood Park against Blackburn, the Head Coach was keen to stress that despite the lack of recovery time, it remained a match his side go in to highly motivated for.

“It’s a very motivational game, because these are exactly the type of games in which we want to play to show our level and continue to grow as a team.

“We have only two days to recover from the Nottingham Forest game, with Blackburn playing on Wednesday night a day before we did, and with no game on the weekend.

“The physical side of that isn’t balanced, the physical relation between the two opponents is not the same one.

“We know we’ll need to show an incredible amount of effort, but I have a team very motivated to do that and to show what we are able to do on the pitch.”

Pressed on the availability within his squad and possibility of rotation with such a short turnaround, Carlos highlighted the strength in depth available to him, singling out Josh Ruffels as an example of a player who is only missing out at present due to the good form of others.

“We have a full squad, which means we have many players and many options that, for me, allow us to play with a very competitive team.

“We’ve been watching to see if we need to rotate on how the players have recovered and reacted to the Nottingham Forest game.

“It also depends on the possibilities we have, because there are players such as Josh Ruffels who could play perfectly in some moments, and he’s not playing games because I’m watching players that are playing well in front of him - but that doesn’t mean that he’s not able to compete.”

Pay on the day is available to Town fans at Blackburn, with tickets available from the Away Ticket Office at the Darwen End. Click HERE for more information!
