THE OPPOSITION
The conclusion of last season saw Swansea finish fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table.
Their Play-Off Semi-Final saw them beat Barnsley 2-1 on aggregate, but they were beaten 2-0 by Brentford in the Play-Off Final.
In July 2021, Swansea City announced that then Head Coach, Steve Cooper, had left the Club by mutual consent.
They appointed former Scotland international Russell Martin as his replacement in August 2021.
The Swans will be looking for their first win since 20 August 2021 when they welcome Town on Saturday.
ONES TO WATCH
Matt Grimes
Grimes signed for Swansea from Exeter City in January 2015. Following loan spells at Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, and Northampton Town, Grimes’ breakthrough season for the Swans came during the 2018/19 campaign. The midfielder impressed from the off, scooping four separate accolades in the Club’s end-of-season awards dinner. Last season saw the 26-year-old make 45 appearances, collecting two goals and three assists in the process.
Jamie Paterson
The midfielder joined the Swans from Bristol City ahead of the current campaign. The former Town man scored on his debt for the Club in a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers. Last season saw the 29-year-old make 20 appearances for Bristol, netting three goals and two assists in the process. Paterson’s first season with Swansea has seen him start every league game so far and bag two goals, including in their 3-3 draw with Luton Town on Saturday 18 September 2021.
Ryan Manning
The 25-year-old signed for Swansea in October 2020, putting pen-to-paper on a three-year contract. He made his debut for the Club in their 2-0 victory over Stoke City. Last season saw the Republic of Ireland international made 17 league appearances for the Swans. His versatility saw him utilised at left back and left wing back. So far in the current campaign the defender’s made seven appearances, and is still searching for his first league goal.
